MTS to start producing entertainment shows with musical Chess
MOSCOW, Feb 19 (PRIME) -- Major Russian mobile operator MTS will start producing entertainment shows and the musical Chess will be the first investment project of the company’s unit, MTS Entertainment, the operator said Wednesday in a statement.
“The entertainment direction is one of the priority ones under MTS’ new development strategy,” MTS Entertainment CEO Mikhail Minin said.
The musical will premiere in Moscow’s MDM Theatre in October. There will be at least 250 performances with an audience of more than 400,000 people.
Chess was created in 1984 by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus of pop group ABBA, and Tim Rice. The story involves a politically driven, Cold War–era chess tournament between two grandmasters, one U.S. and the other Soviet, and their fight over a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other.
MTS Entertainment was established at the beginning of 2020 to manage entertainment projects.
